Former NBA player Glen Davis, A.K.A “Big Baby,” was sentenced to 40 months in prison and three years’ supervised release this Thursday for his part in a scheme to defraud the league’s healthcare plan.

USA Today’s Scooby Axson reports that Davis was found guilty of healthcare fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to make false statements, and conspiracy to commit healthcare and wire fraud back in November. The former Boston Celtics big man and other players allegedly defrauded the program of $5 million over five years.

Davis was determined to have submitted $132,000 in claims, including $27,200 for a dental procedure. Geolocation data showed he was in Las Vegas and not at the Beverly Hills dental office he claimed he was when the work took place.

“Former NBA forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis was sentenced by a federal judge Thursday to 40 months in prison, plus three years’ supervised release, for his Nov. 2023 conviction in an alleged scheme to defraud the league’s health care benefits plan,” ESPN notes.

“Davis, who helped the Boston Celtics win the 2008 championship, was also ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution. The conditions of his supervised release include attending a financial management class and mandatory drug treatment.”

Glen Davis Got off Easy Despite A Sentence Of Over Three Years

Glen Davis, 38, will likely be happy to take the 40 months as he had been facing up to 20 years in prison for his part in the scheme.

Other former NBA players have received sentences for their roles, with Terrence Williams getting 10 years and Will Bynum getting 18 months.
