Chuck Liddell fancies his chances in a street fight against Mike Tyson.
UFC icon Chuck Liddell revealed how a street fight with Mike Tyson would play out as he made a massive claim about the returning boxing legend.
Liddell reigned over the famed UFC light-heavyweight division at the peak of his career, beating the likes of Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture.
As for Tyson, who is set to face Jake Paul on July 20, he’s regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history following his spell as world champion.
And if Liddell and Tyson crossed paths in a street fight, then ‘The Iceman’ fancies his chances of beating ‘Iron’ Mike.
The ex-UFC champion believes he’d beat Tyson in a street fight, stating the legendary boxer would only have a puncher’s chance.
“In a street fight, I’d win,” Liddell told Ed Mylett on his podcast. “I mean, he’s got a puncher’s chance. He’s got a chance to catch me coming in. But other than that, it’s over.”
Liddell was UFC’s original poster boy as he carried the promotion during the early stages of Dana White’s tenure as president.
He had his last UFC fight in June 2010 then came out of retirement to fight Ortiz under the Golden Boy Promotions banner.
Tyson, meanwhile, walked away from boxing after losing to Irish fighter Kevin McBride, who now lives a very different life.
But, like Liddell, he came out of retirement to face fellow boxing great Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout back in November 2020.
He’ll have another exhibition bout when he faces Paul this summer.
His decision to return to the sport, however, has been widely condemned by fans and critics alike, but Tyson has hit out at ‘jealous’ people slamming his fight against ‘The Problem Child’.
Mike Tyson had perfection response to Muhammad Ali question
“Everybody, even most of the athletes, they’re jealous, that’s whack,” he exclaimed. “I say in your prime you couldn’t draw a million people, man. What are you talking, you couldn’t sell out arena.
“Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena? Why you think he [Paul] wants to fight me and not anybody else?”
