The New England Patriots’ downfall has rendered Mark Wahlberg’s Las Vegas estate a house divided.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ rise to prominence coinciding with the downfall of the New England Patriots proved to create the perfect storm in the Wahlberg household.
Patriarch and lauded actor Mark Wahlberg continues to stand as one of the Patriots’ most prominent celebrity fans but the team’s recent woes lost the faith of his wife Rhea Durham. Wahlberg, promoting his new film “Arthur the King,” detailed the household schism during a Friday appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Having recently moved to Las Vegas, Wahlberg said that he attended the first half of Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium, making it home in time to catch not only Usher’s halftime show but also Durham’s red-tinted euphoria, as the Chiefs took down the San Francisco 49ers in overtime.

“(I) drove home, watched Usher, watched the second half with my wife, who has now become a Chiefs fan,” Wahlberg woefully declared to the pop star Clarkson. “She turned on our Patriots.”
Patriots fans like Wahlberg have been offered a taste of their own new century medicine: with both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick gone and the team engaged in a full-on rebuild, the Chiefs have taken full advantage, winning three of the last five Super Bowls, including each of the last couple. Like the Patriots in their dynastic heyday (six Super Bowl wins between the 2001 and 2018 seasons), Kansas City has gained a sizable following that apparently includes Durham, a former Victoria’s Secret model who has been married to Wahlberg since 2009.
Wahlberg has faced some terrifying cinematic antagonists in his day (i.e. Megatron, Frank Costello, and the New York Giants) but the current Chiefs are particularly scary.
Push, Shove, Shrug? Patriots’ Legend Tom Brady Reacts to Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII Incident
Kansas City still has some work to do when it comes to catching up to the Patriots, but they’re closing in at an alarming rate and New England itself doesn’t figure to be a factor in the championship conversation anytime soon. With a win in next year’s Big Game, the Chiefs can do something Brady and Co. (or any other group in NFL history) never pulled off by hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy on three consecutive occasions.
