Nicolas Cage is blacklisted from purchasing a Ferrari
The Ghost Rider actor Nicolas Cage, who was considered one of the highest-paid actors at some point, was bad with his finances. CNBC reports the actor, who was once a top earner in Hollywood with a net worth of $150 million, blew up his fortune by spending the money on a string of expensive and eccentric things, including a deserted island in the Bahamas, shrunken pygmy heads, a pet octopus, and the first Superman comic book, to name a few.
The actor owned 15 residences in Newport Beach, California, a countryside estate in Newport, Rhode Island; Las Vegas; LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans; two castles in Europe; and more. Nicolas Cage also owned a Lamborghini Miura SVJ from the late Shah of Iran, along with nine Rolls Royce and a very rare Ferrari Enzo. According to reports, the Ferrari Enzo that the actor owned was one of the 349 produced.

Nicolas Cage appeared on 60 Minutes and said that his roles kept him afloat after he fell into $6 million in debt following bad investments. He said,
“I was overinvested in real estate. The real estate market crashed, and I couldn’t get out in time. I paid them all back, but it was about $6 million. I never filed for bankruptcy.”
It has been reported that the actor had to sell off most of his properties and luxury cars, including the Ferrari Enzo, to pay his debts. He was able to sell the rare and exotic car way below what it was worth, which didn’t sit right with the Ferrari executives.
Hence, according to The Things, the Italian marque, who are very conscious of their image, decided to distance themselves from Nicolas Cage and blacklisted the actor from purchasing another Ferrari.
The representative cited the reason that the brand wants to be associated with someone serious and responsible when it comes to cars. Cage joins the list of celebrities who are banned from buying a Ferrari, including Deadmau5’s Artistic Clash, Blac Chyna, Tyga, Floyd Mayweather, and Justin Bieber, to name some.

“But I haven’t been thinking about it. I got to play a part that I absolutely had to play. There was no doubt in my mind that it would be an experience and a great movie. I wasn’t going to stop—whether they paid me or not, I was making the movie.”

Mike Figgs shared during the THR interview that he never received the $100,000 fee for directing the movie that centered on Cage’s suicidal alcoholic character who moves to Las Vegas to drink himself to death. John O’Brien’s 1990 semi-autobiographical novel of the same name is based on the movie. Upon its release, the movie received strong praise from the audience and the critics.
“They said the film never went into profit. Whatever. I mean, my career took off again, and the next film I did, I got really well paid. And within a year, Nicolas Cage was earning $20 million a movie, so that was quite good.”
