Liam Neeson and Kerry Condon face off in explosive new trailer for Ireland-set film

It’s certainly a change from Condon’s Oscar-nominated role

The trailer for Liam Neeson’s new film is here, and it looks like the action star may have met his match. In the Land of Saints and Sinners has a star-studded cast of Irish Oscar nominees, including The Banshees of Inisherin star Kerry Condon.

The two actors face off in the explosive first look at the movie, which was filmed in Co Donegal. The movie premiered at Venice Film Festival on Wednesday and is set for release later this year.

In the film, Neeson plays Finbar Murphy, a freshly retired assassin now hoping to enjoy a quiet life in his quaint village. Yet his past comes back to bite him in the form of Doireann (Condon), an IRA member with a thirst for vengeance.

The trailer doesn’t give us an insight into how Finbar wronged Doireann, but whatever it is, she’s hell-bent on making him pay. The pair find themselves embroiled in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase that looks just as action-packed as Neeson’s resume.

Fellow Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds stars as the local Garda, while Colm Meaney plays Finbar’s handler. The film also sees Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson – who retired from acting after playing Joffrey on the hit HBO series – return to the screen for the first time in years.

A release date has yet to be announced. Netflix has acquired the Irish and UK rights to the film, so it’s likely to hit the streaming service within the next number of months.
