There have been rumors swirling around the NFL, from who teams will select to what they may trade and get compensation for particular picks, and fans are loving all the potential chaos that may happen. The Washington Commanders are no strangers to these rumors.

The Washington Commanders experienced a complete overhaul in the 2024 off-season, bringing on Dan Quinn as the team’s new head coach and signing veteran players such as linebacker Bobby Wagner and running back Austin Ekeler.

The Commanders hold the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and with the team in a decent situation, it seems they could be in a position to move the selection and have reportedly been fielding offers.

NFL reporter Dianna Russini posted to X stating that while the team is receiving calls for its number two overall pick, they are declining every option to trade due to the fact that they do not see any of their quarterbacks as future franchise options.

Commanders Could Be a Top Team After Off-Season Moves

Not only did the Commanders bring in a new head coach, but they also added a new offensive coordinator after letting go of former Kansas City Chiefs OC Eric Bienemy. They replaced the aforementioned Bienemy with former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Kingburry spent last season coaching at USC, coaching Caleb Williams, the number one prospect in the NFL Draft. The next Commanders QB could benefit from being led by the coach who helped Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams.

With quarterbacks such as Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and JJ McCarthy slated to be taken off the board in the first round, Washington has many signal-callers to choose from. Whoever they decide to take with their second overall pick, they are in an excellent position to succeed next season.
