The 2024 NFL draft is set to be held later this month around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25–27, 2024.
To get ready for the 2024 NFL Draft, the city has decided to make a huge change to how the area looks.
The upcoming NFL Draft in Detroit is poised to be the city’s largest event in years, so they decided to add some decor in the form of a Hollywood-style Detroit sign that is being installed along Interstate 94.
Based on the reactions from social media, it appears that the recreation of the Hollywood sign is not going over very well.
The city is preparing to host the 2024 NFL Draft this April, and several beautification projects are in the works. However, if they look anything like the Detroit sign, they should go back to the drawing board.
Jessica Parker, Detroit’s deputy chief operations officer, told the Detroit Free Press in February, “It’s going to be like the Hollywood sign, but smaller.” She also told them, “The letters will look like they are floating on beautiful greenery … and they will light up in Detroit’s colors, green and white.”
Parker also revealed to the Detroit Free Press that $400,000 in city funding will be used to create the signage. Aside from the Hollywood-style sign, she also stated that the signage project includes new aluminum “Welcome to Detroit” gateway signs.

Headed into this April’s NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions are equipped with seven total picks, including the No. 61 overall selection.
The team could certainly use help at safety after C.J. Gardner-Johnson played for one year before heading to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
The Detroit Lions are coming off a highly successful season where they got their first playoff win since the 90s and made it to the NFC Championship game.
