Football fans noticed something peculiar about New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones during his press conference with reporters on Monday.

While speaking to reporters, Daniel Jones revealed that rehab from surgery on his season-ending ACL tear is “going well” and that he expects to be ready for training camp. Jones suffered the injury in a Week 9 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders back on Nov. 5.

But during Jones’ press conference, fans noticed that his eyes were wide-wide open, leading to all sorts of jokes and interesting reactions on X/Twitter

Maybe Jones had consumed too much coffee prior to his meeting with reporters?. Either way, there’s nothing to worry about here, folks.

After a career year in 2022, Daniel Jones was awarded a lucrative four-year contract extension worth $160 million. But before his season-ending injury, “Danny Dimes” struggled considerably in 2023.

The 2019 first-round pick lost five of six starts and completed 67.5 percent of his pass attempts for 909 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions. He took a whopping 30 sacks in those six games and fumbled four times.

2024 Is A Make-Or-Break Year For Daniel Jones

The Giants have the option to take a quarterback with the No. 6 pick, or they could even trade up for someone like Michigan’s JJ McCarthy or North Carolina’s Drake Maye.

Regardless of what they do at the draft, 2024 is simply a make-or-break season for Danel Jones in the Meadowlands. In five NFL seasons, he’s only had one solid campaign, and he’s only hit the 20-touchdown mark once in his career.

Jones has emphasized that he thinks he’s the best option for the team at quarterback, via Dan Salomon of Giants.com. Based on the structure of the $160 million extension, the Giants could get out of it next year with minimal financial ramifications.

So if Jones believes he’s the best quarterback available for New York, 2024 is his last chance to show it.
