‘Mike Tyson can’t bite my ear off if I knock his teeth out’, Jake Paul warns in fight prediction

Jake Paul will not allow a repeat of Mike Tyson’s famous ear bite against Evander Holyfield.

The heavyweight legend was famously disqualified for biting off a chunk of bitter rival Holyfield’s ear during their June 1997 encounter, an incident which will forever remain etched in boxing history.

27 years on from that famous incident, Tyson will take on YouTube star Paul in a blockbuster showdown on July 20, and the influencer believes he has the power to knock his opponent’s teeth out.

When asked about fears over a new ear bite on Fox News, Paul replied: “He can’t bite my ear off if I knock his teeth out.’’

He went on to give a further prediction for the clash, adding: “I’m the faster man. He’s the much stronger man, but I’m fresh.

“He’s experienced. I’m smart but in the ring he may be smarter, so it’s a really interesting match-up.’’

“It’s going to be tough. He looks like a beast. He’s a dog. He’s ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

“But I believe I have what it takes to beat him and I know this is the toughest test of my life and it’s an honour to be in there with Mike.

“But at the end of the day I’m going to be the one who gets my hand raised.’’

Despite his history of inflicting injury on Holyfield, Tyson is now friends with his rival and they have even teased a lucrative trilogy bout.

For his next fight against Paul, It is currently unclear if a winner will be declared on the night, given Tyson claimed that the fight will take place in exhibition format.

The former undisputed champion will be 58 years old by the time of their summer dust-up, and has not fought as a professional since 2005 where he looked a shadow of himself.

Tyson has already returned since that date, touching gloves with Roy Jones Jr in November 2020 in a relaxed contest.

And it is no doubt he has now chosen to return to face Paul in front of 80,000 fans given the mammoth $20 million purse he is reported to pocket.

The boxing veteran has been training for the event, documenting his drills on social media, but fans are still concerned for his wellbeing.

Medical experts have even issued warnings to the icon, should he suffer the damage Paul is claiming he will inflict.

But the fight appears set to go ahead, and Paul is set to have a unique opportunity to expand his name further.
